Their story

Hello, we are Katherine and Joshua Perez. For years now, it has been our dream to become parents and to raise children that can make a difference in the world. But the journey to becoming parents has taken many difficult turns. We had hoped to start a family of our own after getting married in 2017. After a year of trying, we were so excited when we finally got pregnant. But we lost the baby early on in the pregnancy. For almost another year tried everything in our power to get pregnant again. Afterwards, we realized that we needed medical intervention. We finally sought the help of a fertility specialist and have been on the IVF journey ever since. For those of you who have gone through these treatments you know the toll it can take on you physically, emotionally, and most especially financially. The costs associated with IVF are steep, and sometimes not covered by insurance. Certain tests which are required to better ensure a successful pregnancy can only be paid out of pocket. The physical, emotional and financial pain we’ve experienced since has been so great that even our personal faith was also affected. It has been six years of trying. Even though we have faced many challenges, we are not ready to give up our dream of  becoming parents.

Any amount donated would go towards the next step recommended by our doctors, egg and sperm donor, which is one of the most affordable adoptions that there is. The amount we are trying to fundraise $18,000 would cover the cost of our egg adoption. This would increase our chances by 70%. This is why we are reaching out for support. If you are in a place where you can support with anything, we would greatly appreciate it. We believe by this time next year our dreams of welcoming Baby Perez into our family could finally be a reality.
