Brandon and I have been trying to start our family since the fall of 2020, but we have been struggling with infertility. We have expanded our family through foster care and have had over a dozen children in our home the past three years. Foster care has allowed us to serve our community and hopefully enrich children's lives during an incredibly difficult time. It has also helped us recognize that a family can be defined in so many ways.
We temporarily closed our home to foster care in the fall of 2022 because we were blessed with a successful IUI. I was pregnant and due in June 2023. It was truly the happiest time of our lives. We were so thrilled and were counting the days till June.
The unimaginable happened. I noticed a decrease in movement of the baby on May 30th. Brandon and I went to the hospital where we received the worst news of our lives. Our baby had died. I was induced a few days later and delivered on June 3rd, 2023. Our daughter's name was Mary Anne Harvey.
We have received incredible support from our family and friends in the weeks that followed. It has been difficult to watch the world continue to spin while our lives feel like they are falling apart.
Making the decision to try to grow our family again has been heart-wrenching. Our grief for Mary is overwhelming. It is difficult to imagine what next week looks like let alone a year from now. She will always be in our hearts.
The journey to get pregnant was too difficult to put into words, and the thought of trying again breaks my heart. Brandon has been the most incredible support system these past few years and especially now.
Your gift towards our family truly means the world to us. We are so grateful for your contribution and support.
