In 2021, my husband and I found out we were pregnant, and it was one of the happiest moments of our lives. One of my biggest dreams was finally coming true. Sadly, at 11 weeks and 6 days, we lost our baby. Eight months later, we experienced the heartbreak of another miscarriage after learning our baby never had a heartbeat. During this time, I was diagnosed with uterine fibroids and underwent surgery to have them removed. After a year of trying to conceive without success, we discovered that scarring in my fallopian tubes had made getting pregnant naturally extremely difficult. Our doctor told us that IVF was now our only option for having a biological child. What once seemed so natural has become one of the hardest journeys of our lives. We have experienced the joy of pregnancy, the pain of loss, and the heartbreak of wondering when—or if—we would get another chance to become parents. Despite everything, we have never given up hope.
