Their story

Hi there, we are RJ and Lindsay. This has taken a lot for us to put this out there as we have been private on what we have been going through. RJ & I have been together for almost 8 years and our journey to parenthood has been our biggest challenge yet. Our fertility journey started in February 2021. After 2 different fertility centers, numerous testing’s and a couple procedures we are FINALLY ready to start our IVF journey! As suspected, our insurance will not cover IVF treatment. This is so discouraging and yet again another bump in the road. Our hearts are forever grateful for the number of prayers, well wishes, comforting hugs and encouragement that many of you have shared with us during our journey. After much thought and consideration, we have decided to lean into your love and support in anticipation of welcoming a child into our family. We are asking you to join us in our journey by offering financial support as we embark on IVF. We understand this is a non-traditional approach to show support but without insurance coverage, we are faced with the task of paying for this treatment out of pocket. We would forever be grateful and appreciate any help that we can get to make our dreams a reality. Once again, thank you for your love and support. Please continue sending your kind prayers, well wishes, love and encouragement our way. They make the hard days more bearable and the good days much more beautiful. From the bottom of our hearts, Lindsay & RJ

Update #2

Hey everyone! I realized we haven\'t giving an update recently. I have been updating facebook, so if you are friends with us on there, you should be pretty up to date on what is going on :) We started our first round of STIMs on 11/27/2023. I didnt prepare myself for the emotional part of STIMs. It did take its toll on me and behind closed doors I was a wreck! I was going to the doctors every other day for bloodwork and ultrasounds. During my ultrasounds they were seeing 10 follicles on my ovaries and all my bloodwork was coming back normal. We were on the right track. On 12/9/2023 we my first egg retrieval. At that time, they also wanted Rj to give a fresh semen sample, as we were scheduled to do a FET (Fresh Embryo Transfer) a couple days afterwards. They retrieved 4 eggs. Rj\'s sperm count is super low, they only found 1 good sperm in his fresh sample which they used for ICSI (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection) which is where the scientist picks up a single sperm and injects it into each egg using a microscopic needle. The next day we got the call that that the one egg matured, we were just waiting for it to reach the fertilized stage. The other 3 eggs did not mature until later on that night, but because we only had 1 good sperm from Rj\'s sample, we couldnt do anything else, so they ended up freezing the other 3 eggs. Which by the way, they ended up looking at his sperm more and found 3 MORE living sperms (this is a huge improvement)! Anyways, we got another call 3 days later saying that egg never fertilized, which means we didn\'t have any embryos :( We were heartbroken!!! We just couldn\'t belive it. Our medical team met and came up with a new game plan. We are changing up some of my meds and adding new ones. She also wants Rj to give 2 fresh samples the day of my next egg retrieval, as we still plan to do a FET. We also plan to allow my follicles to grow just a little bit bigger than the \"normal\" size before we decide to pull the trigger shot, in hopes to retrieve more eggs next time. So with that said, I have ordered all my meds and we plan to start our second round right after Christmas! We are sooo thankful for the army behind us because there were days we wanted to give up. You ALL have been so amazing and we can’t thank you enough for being on this journey with us! Cheers to round 2 of our IVF journey! #IVFjourneytobabymatter Love, Linds & Rj

Update #1

Hi everyone - First and foremost we would like to thank everyone that has donated, shared our fundraiser, and those that are still praying for us. You have no idea how much this means to us! We would love to thank each and every single one of you individually, but it\\\\'s just not possible, however we CANNOT wait to pay it forward! I wanted to come here and give everyone a little update. We put down our deposit to start our IVF treatment last week! I have spent most of my nights, calling different fertility pharmacy\\\\'s to get quotes on the IVF meds i will need. It is INSANE how much these meds cost OUT OF POCKET! Thankfully there are a couple different discount savings companies that you can apply to, to receive a discount. I ended up getting approved for a 10% discount off my Gonal F med, which is awesome! I know it doesn\\\\'t sound like much, but the discount is saving us almost $500! I am hoping to get these meds ordered by the end of the week. My best friend is getting married the end of the month in FL (I\\\\'m in the wedding), so our plan is to hopefully start our IVF treatment beginning of Nov! Please continue to pray for us. Your love and support has been one of the reasons we keep pushing ourselves every single day. You all are amazing and we are so thankful for each and every single one of you! :) Love, Lindsay & Rj
