Their story

Hi, our names are Sam and Kelly. We are some of Alex and Maggie’s close friends. A few of their friends have come together to try to relieve some of the financial stress of the journey that they are on by doing a puzzle fundraiser (explained later). Alex and Maggie have given permission to freely share their story and walk with them through this stage of life. About three years ago, Alex and Maggie found out they were expecting their first child…..an answer to their prayers. When Maggie was 20 weeks pregnant, they received the heartbreaking news that their baby, Jackson, had a life-limiting condition. Maggie continued to carry Jackson until 36 weeks, had an emergency c-section and delivered their beautiful Jackson. They shared three hours of love with Jackson earth side before he went on ahead to heaven. Now Maggie and Alex are faced with a new challenge- infertility. They’ve spent more than a year going through testing and various fertility treatments. However, none of these treatments were successful. The next step suggested for them is IVF. After spending upwards of $10,000 on prior treatments, this next step will carry a heavy price tag. Maggie and Alex anticipate they will spend approximately $40,000 (IVF shared risk plus two rounds of medications). Although this is a large dollar amount (even for IVF), the fertility clinic they are working with offers what is called “shared risk” for patients that don’t have insurance coverage for infertility. The cost will cover six rounds of IVF or until a successful pregnancy. Entering this program takes some anxiety off their shoulders, knowing they have several opportunities to grow their family. Here’s where you can help. Each time a donation is made to Alex and Maggie’s fundraiser, a puzzle piece will be created with the donors name on it. Once the puzzle is complete, it will be framed and hung in the baby’s future nursery as a reminder of all who walked with them through this journey. Through every heartbreaking moment, Jesus has been their foundation. The fear surrounding this next step is no different. Whatever his plan and wherever this journey takes them, Jesus will see them through it.
