I'm a childhood cancer survivor hoping for my miracle baby! My name is Laura , and I'm a resident of Pennsauken NJ. At the age of 9 I was operated from a pituitary brain tumor. The tumor was partially removed because it's located in a delicate area. I was monitored very often with M.R.I's and tests. At age 14 the tumor grew back and I had to receive 1 year and 5 months of chemotherapy. I was unable to preserve my fertility as a child. Since my tumor is located in the pituitary gland, also known as "the master gland," that affected all of my hormones. I have to take medications on a daily basis to give me the hormones my body doesn't make. Now as an adult and married for 8 years I have to suffer the consequences from my childhood disease and am faced with infertility. Imagine being told in your early 20s that you have menopausal stage ovaries! That was so devastating to hear because being a mother was my dream since I was a little girl! It's not like I had a choice when I was diagnosed with cancer! Doctors have told me that in order for me to become pregnant I need to be seen by a fertility specialist so that they can monitor me taking fertility medication my body needs. My husband and I are unable to pay for fertility care out of pocket and our insurance won't cover any of it! Costs for fertility care can range from $10,000 - $20,000. It's so unfair to have to go through this just to build a family! I decided to come out of my comfort zone and start this fundraiser not only to get some help but also to raise awareness of this cause! Any help will be much appreciated!
