More than anything, we want the opportunity to become parents. We have experienced the excitement of positive pregnancy tests, the joy of imagining our future with our children, and the heartbreak of having those dreams taken away from us. Twice.
Losing our first baby at 14 weeks was devastating. We eventually found the courage to try again, and when we learned we were expecting twins, we were overjoyed. We allowed ourselves to believe that maybe, after everything we had already endured, our dream was finally coming true. But at 21 weeks, we lost both of our babies, and I came terrifyingly close to losing Jay, too.
There aren't words to adequately describe what those experiences have done to us. We have grieved three babies, endured years of fertility treatments, and spent an incredible amount of money trying to have the family we have always wanted.
And somehow, through all of that heartbreak, the desire to become parents has never gone away.
We understand that no treatment comes with guarantees. We know firsthand how fragile pregnancy can be and how quickly everything can change. But we are hoping for another opportunity to build our family.
Receiving this grant would mean so much more to us than financial assistance. It would mean having the chance to keep pursuing a dream that has already cost us more than we ever imagined, both financially and emotionally. We have so much love to give, and we are simply hoping for the opportunity to give that love to a child.
How we'll use the funds: This grant would help cover the cost of purchasing donor eggs through Fairfax EggBank and the associated fertility treatments needed to pursue another pregnancy, including fertilization, embryo development, and embryo transfer. After three IVF cycles, four attempts, and the significant financial burden of our previous treatments, receiving assistance would give us an opportunity to continue our journey toward parenthood without facing the entire financial burden on our own.
