My name is Emily & my husbands name is Alex. We got married in September of 2020. We always knew we wanted kids right off the bat. As long as I can remember, I always dreamed of the day that I would become a mom. Being newlyweds was great. I remember how it felt to think it would come so easy. I mean it did for a lot of people around us, so why not us? Well…..one, two, three months passed. Not a big deal, right? That eventually turned into 6 months, then a year & then a year & a half. BUT, let’s back track a little bit. We were diagnosed with fertility issues in June 2021. Me being the impatient person I am couldn’t wait any longer. I wanted answers (and I’m glad I didn’t wait). We did multiple tests, labs and images. We were told with IUI (artificial insemination) we should easily get pregnant. This was really exciting for us & we had high hopes. So it began. I started on letrazole in August & we did our first round of IUI. Unfortunately, it was unsuccessful. We increased the dosage of letrazole for September & we did our second round of IUI. Also unsuccessful. My doctor at the time wanted us to take a break from treatments for a few months. This isn’t exactly what we wanted to hear, but we did anyways. In November I started back on fertility medication & continued this through December & January. We got second, third & even fourth opinions to find out our best option was IVF. This isn’t exactly what we had in mind, but we are all in. We will be having this done in Illinois. Obviously we are extremely excited (and nervous) to start this next part of our journey. Between both of our work schedules & part time nursing school for me, it’s going to be a crazy ride. But, it will be so worth it in the end. This is God’s plan for us & we put our trust & faith in him 100%. Unfortunately, it comes with a price. We have already invested thousands into medication, imaging, doctor visits & treatments. IVF comes at much higher of a cost. We appreciate anything you would be willing to donate to us to help us start our family ❤️
