In 2022, my life changed forever. I underwent surgery to remove both of my fallopian tubes due to masses affecting them. While the surgery was necessary, it also meant that I would never be able to conceive a child naturally. From that moment on, in vitro fertilization (IVF) became our only path to having a child together. My partner and I are incredibly grateful for the beautiful children we each have from previous relationships, and I was blessed to have my children before my surgery. We love our blended family with all our hearts. But there has always been a feeling deep inside both of us that our family is not quite complete. We have always dreamed of welcoming a child together—a little piece of both of us to complete our family. Determined to make that dream a reality, we poured everything we had into one IVF cycle. We invested our entire life savings, knowing it was our only chance. We prayed, hoped, and held onto every bit of optimism we could. Out of our entire IVF cycle, only one embryo made it to the blastocyst stage. That one tiny embryo carried every hope and dream we had for our future. Sadly, despite all of our prayers and hope, our embryo transfer was not successful. The heartbreak that followed is something we never imagined. Along with the emotional pain came the reality that we had exhausted our savings. IVF is incredibly expensive, and we simply cannot afford another treatment on our own. Asking for help is one of the hardest things we have ever done. We have always believed in working hard and doing everything we could ourselves, but today we find ourselves needing the kindness and generosity of others to give us another chance.
