Their story

For many, the path to motherhood is a straight line. For me, it has been a winding, arduous journey marked by medical diagnoses, emotional upheaval, and profound physical challenges. My struggle began at sixteen with a diagnosis of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). At the time, I couldn’t fully grasp the weight of those four letters, but they became the foundation of a twenty-year struggle to claim my right to be a mother. In my early twenties, filled with bright optimism, I began trying for a child, but the ease I had hoped for never materialized. By twenty-three, my clinical fertility journey began in earnest. I navigated grueling, unsuccessful cycles of Letrozole and Clomid, followed by consecutive failed Intrauterine Inseminations (IUIs). The immense emotional toll and mounting financial strain of the process were overwhelming, forcing my dream of motherhood into an agonizing pause. In the years that followed, my body presented new challenges. At twenty-seven, I was diagnosed with Endometriosis, adding physical pain and further reproductive complexity to an already difficult situation. Despite my desperate hope for a child, my body remained silent, leaving me to carry the void of motherhood while trying to navigate my changing health. The waiting felt endless, and at thirty-four, my health was challenged yet again with a diagnosis of Thyroidism and Hashimoto’s Disease. The exhaustion of autoimmune struggles added another heavy layer to my ongoing journey. Now, at thirty-five, I have reached a turning point. I am no longer the sixteen-year-old girl defined by a diagnosis, nor am I waiting for the perfect circumstances to become a parent. I have decided to take my own happiness and my journey into motherhood into my own hands. I have realized that the void I have felt for nearly two decades requires my own courage to be filled. I will be thirty-six this October, and I am stepping into this new year with a sense of peace I have never known. I know, without a doubt, that I can give a child a happy, loving, and stable home. I have a strong support system behind me to help throughout this entire process of motherhood. The financial sacrifices and medical hurdles are significant, but the result is worth every bit of effort. By choosing to pursue this path, I am honoring the girl I was at sixteen and the woman I have become a woman ready to welcome a beautiful child into a home built on resilience, strength, and unconditional love.
