Hi! My name is Alexis. I have stage 2 endometriosis, for those of you who are not sure what that is- basically my endometrial lining grows outside of my uterus and created lesions on my internal reproductive organs. It causes debilitating pain and ovarian cysts monthly. The only “real” treatment is birth control or a pill called Orilissa which I currently take that pretty much launches your body into a medical menopause. On top of this my husband, John, has low sperm count! Bummer, I know. So our path to parenthood is through IVF. In September I am having my second laparoscopic surgery to remove endometriosis. After this surgery we are planning to do IVF with donor sperm. My doctor is confident that IVF with donor sperm will be incredibly successful! That’s the upside to the whole unfortunate situation.
