First, thank you for considering us for your donations! We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to share our story and hope you can understand how much this support would mean to our family.
Ten years ago, we were blessed with our son, Braylen. He was born prematurely at 32 weeks because my cervix was too short and spent about a month in the NICU. He needed time to grow and learn how to feed, and those weeks were filled with fear and uncertainty. Today, he is a loving 10-year-old who is on the autism spectrum and is truly the center of our world.
Our journey to grow our family began while we were stationed at Fort Polk, Louisiana. When we found out we were pregnant, it was a surprise, but we were incredibly excited. At our first ultrasound, something didn't seem right, so we were told to wait a couple of weeks. Around eight weeks, we learned that the embryo had stopped growing and there was no heartbeat. After waiting another week, I had to undergo a D&C.
Unfortunately, this happened three more times. Each pregnancy brought the same excitement, followed by the same heartbreaking loss. The emotional toll was overwhelming. I constantly asked myself, “Why can't I have another baby?”
After our fifth and final pregnancy, we experienced another devastating loss when my mom passed away from stage 4 ovarian cancer at only 52 years old. After everything we had endured, we decided we were done trying. The emotional pain had become too much, and my husband eventually had a vasectomy.
Two years later, however, we realized deep down that our family wasn't complete. We decided to pursue IVF because we still had hope.
During one of my IVF injections, my son wanted to help. As he stood beside me, he suddenly said, “Your mom is standing behind you.” He said it completely out of nowhere. Whether you believe in signs or not, that moment meant everything to me. It felt like my mom was reminding me not to give up.
Our first IVF cycle ended with zero embryos that made it. It was heartbreaking, especially after everything we had already experienced. IVF has been emotionally draining, physically exhausting, and incredibly expensive. Unfortunately, TRICARE does not cover our IVF treatment, and we are still paying for our previous cycle.
We currently have four vials of my husband's sperm remaining, and we are ready to keep trying. (he got a TESE)
Your donations would mean more than financial assistance. It would give us another opportunity to continue growing our family and help relieve some of the financial burden that comes with IVF. We are not ready to give up on our dream.
Thank you for taking the time to hear our story and for giving families like ours hope when the journey to parenthood doesn't go as planned.
