After years of committed partnership and dreaming of children, my wife and I have been trying to grow our family for approximately two years. We live in a very supportive community that truly will be the "village" it takes to raise a child. As friends and family around us have babies, we are the first to show up and help out knowing someday soon they can return the favor. After preparing physically and developing a plan for first steps to grow our family, we started seeking a known sperm donor. Additionally, my wife and I followed legal recommendations in creating a known donor contract with a lawyer and performing background checks with a private investigator. The process of attempting to perform at home insemination with a known donor cost us thousands of dollars. After countless failed cycles and four prospective donors not working out, we now know medical intervention is needed to start our family. In order to achieve the ultimate dream and blessing of our lifetime, we are seeking to utilize IVF with sperm from a bank. We intend to donate any embryos or eggs leftover after we build our family. Family creation for individuals like us is extremely emotionally difficult and expensive in ways that are not shared by our cis counterparts on fertility journeys. Our greatest wish if for assistance in making our dream a reality.
