My name is Marissa, I am 30 and I carry a genetic disorder called Leighs syndrome. Leigh syndrome is a rare inherited neurometabolic disorder that affects the central nervous system. While I do not suffer from any of this terrible debilitating disease is symptoms. Any children that I bear without IVF certainly will. I did not know I was a carrier of this genetic disease until it was too late and my son was diagnosed at 1yrs old in 2012. He passed away two years later in 2014 to say it has been a nightmare is not enough. I now find myself ready and eager to become a mother again. I’ve spent years researching, and learning about how the process will go for me. I want to be able to live our dream and become parents. Anything helps and will be immensely appreciated.
