Hi, my name is Miranda and my partner is Bryce. We met in 2016 while I was still in college. And like most “single” people in college, having a baby was nowhere close to being on my itinerary. Fast forward to 2019; we’ve been together for close to four years, I’ve graduated college and started my career, we just found out I was pregnant, and the stars seemed to be aligning for us. Unfortunately they unaligned just as quick… I had my one and only miscarriage at 6 weeks. This triggered a sense of urgency in me—I had lost something that I always dreamed of having but I didn’t understand why. We started paying more attention to my cycle, trying to time it as best as possible. Within this time, my niece suddenly came into our lives and we adopted her. Plans for a baby slowed down during this time so that we could give our daughter Brylee the attention she needed. As time went on and Brylee became adjusted to her new life with us, we began our conception journey once again. I started seeing a fertility specialist for testing. Most of my hormones seemed normal, my fallopian tubes were open & Bryce was found to have excellent sperm quality. My only issue they could find is that I have a low AMH, indicating low egg reserve. Mid-2024, we ended up trying IUI (artificial intrauterine insemination) with no success. This left me emotionally and mentally exhausted. We once again put a halt to our plans of trying to conceive so that we could recover and look into our options. This year I have been back into planning and IVF is our next step. Coming to terms with my infertility has been one of the hardest things I have ever done and if I’m being honest, I’m still in the process of wrapping my head around it. It is not something I ever imagined telling the world, but here I am in my most vulnerable state asking for help. While money is just money at the end of the day, the cost of IVF is still a large burden to bear, especially knowing it may not even work and a second round may be needed.
