My name is Akeya and I have POLYCYSTIC OVARIAN SYNDROME, commonly known as PCOS for those that are not familiar. PCOS is a common health condition in child bearing age women that causes an array of hormonal problems including infertility due to lack of ovulation or poor egg quality. I was diagnosed with PCOS at 23 and hearing the words infertile ultimately sounded like "inferior" I felt so disappointed in my body . My loving husband although he is very understanding I know he yearns for a child. We have tried to get pregnant for the last six years but without any professional assistance we have lost 3 to miscarriage. We both work very hard and are extremely optimistic that with the right fertility specialist IVF could make our dreams of having a baby finally come true .
