My name is Jessica King, and I am 39 years old. I live in Belton, MO, with my husband, Jeremy. I work with children, and every day I feel the deep longing to experience that love and bond for myself. However, this journey has been fraught with challenges that have tested my resilience. The main reason I am applying for this grant is that my husband, Jeremy, has a microdeletion of the Y chromosome. This condition has resulted in a low sperm count, leaving us with only a 1-5% chance of conceiving naturally. The reality of this diagnosis is overwhelming, and the emotional rollercoaster that comes with trying to conceive has taken a toll on both of us. I find myself grappling with a mix of hope and fear, as each month passes without success. The financial burden of IVF treatments, tests, trigger shots, egg retrieval, and the freezing of embryos weighs heavily on my mind. I have experienced moments of emotional breakdown, feeling the weight of these challenges pressing down on me. The cost of treatments can feel insurmountable, and it adds another layer of stress to an already difficult situation. I often think about how much I want to honor my late mother, who I lost to cancer six years ago. Having a child would not only fulfill my dream of motherhood but also be a way to keep her memory alive in my heart. This grant would mean the world to us. It would provide the financial support we so desperately need to pursue the treatments that can help us achieve our dream of becoming parents. I have longed for this moment for so many years, and it feels like a chance to create a family that I have always envisioned.
