Hello there, my name is Lacey. Like so many women I have known since a very young age that I wanted to have a family. I am 35 years old and while I have worked extremely hard to create a life I am proud of. I am still holding on to my dream of becoming a mother. As someone who is not in a relationship, and works in healthcare (women’s health specifically) I’ve been thinking about my future a lot and the possibility of making my dream a reality.  I see day to day  the risks/difficulties associated with getting older and the decrease in fertility. I will be starting nursing school in a few short months am not currently in a place where I am ready to get pregnant. This is why I have decided to go through with an egg retrieval and cryo preservation (egg freezing) and when I am about done with school I can do IVF with a sperm donor and have the best shot at a “healthy pregnancy”.    

As someone who is not in a relationship, I’ve been thinking a lot about my future and the possibility of having a family of my own someday. However, as time passes, I am acutely aware that my fertility is decreasing. This is why I’ve decided to undergo egg freezing—a process that will allow me to preserve my eggs and keep the dream of motherhood alive until I am in the right circumstances to start a family.
