Our Journey to Parenthood: A Call for Support My husband Jonathan and I have been married for 6 years now, and while many of you may not know, we’ve quietly been walking one of the hardest journeys of our lives—our battle with infertility. We got married in 2018 in beautiful Mexico, and once we returned home to California, we began trying to conceive naturally. We spent over a year tracking ovulation, hoping each month would bring us a miracle, but month after month, we were met with disappointment. In 2020, after learning about the IUI process through a co-worker, we took our first step into fertility treatments. We tried our first IUI with hope in our hearts, but sadly it ended in a negative pregnancy test. The emotional weight of that failed cycle was heavier than we expected. Still, we pressed on. In 2021, after switching to a new doctor, we tried IUI again. We prayed, stayed optimistic, and truly believed this would be our moment. But once again, we were heartbroken by another negative result. Our doctor advised us that IVF would be the next step, as it often yields better chances of success.  So in 2022 with a mix of hope, fear, and determination, we moved forward. Since then, we have undergone two IVF cycles—both of which have unfortunately ended in failure. Most recently, we experienced a pregnancy followed by a devastating miscarriage. These past few years have taken us through some of our highest hopes and our lowest lows. Infertility has impacted us emotionally, spiritually, and financially. It’s hard to explain the kind of grief that comes with losing something you’ve prayed so hard for. We are grateful that our insurance that provided some coverage, which we know is a blessing many don’t have but unfortunately now our insurance coverage is now exhausted. Without insurance, IVF costs can exceed $30,000, with medications alone reaching up to $6,000. We’ve applied for grants, loans, and assistance programs, and have received more denials than we can count. We’ve come to a place where we now realize—we can’t do this alone. As hard as it is to ask for help, we are turning to our community, to our village, and saying: we need you. A friend once reminded me that it takes a village to raise a child—but sometimes, you need your village to help bring that child into the world, too. 🤍 If you feel led to give, please know every dollar will go directly toward our fertility treatments.
