I am a childhood cancer survivor. At the age of 10 I was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. At the time, not much was known about AML in children as it was predominantly seen in adults. I endured chemotherapy, full-body radiation, and a bone marrow transplant. I beat the odds and made a full-recovery, and has since been in remission for over 20 years. As a result of the treatment received as a child, I have struggled with infertility. My husband and I have tried for years to have children, but were told by my physician that due to my low-egg reserve I have a less than 1% chance of getting pregnant. We have attempted the IVF process, but unfortunately no follicles had developed. We are now looking at egg donation. My physician & the Livestrong Organization could potentially cover 25% of the cost, but the remainder of $8000 would be our responsibility. My biggest wish is to be a mother.
