Their story

My name is Brandon Sutherland, and I am 39 years old. I live in Moorhead, MN, with my wife, Bayan Mohammad. Together, we share a dream that has become a significant part of our lives—the dream of becoming parents. Bayan and I began our journey to conceive naturally, filled with hope and excitement. However, after several months, we faced the heartbreaking news that Bayan had a low egg count. It was a moment that shattered our dreams and cast a shadow over what we had envisioned for our future. After two long years of trying without success, we made the difficult decision to explore IVF, believing this could be our chance to finally hold our baby in our arms. As we embarked on this journey, we poured our hearts and finances into the process, navigating the emotional rollercoaster of hope and disappointment. After countless appointments, medications, and procedures, we were left with only one blastocyst from six harvested eggs. It felt like all our hopes rested on this tiny embryo, a fragile symbol of our dreams. When we learned that the blastocyst did not implant, it felt like our world had crumbled around us. The devastation was profound—not just from the loss of the embryo, but from the realization that we had no other options left. In that moment, I felt an overwhelming sense of helplessness. All we wanted was to be parents, to share our love and create a family, but it felt as though that dream was slipping further away from us. Currently, we find ourselves in a place where trying again seems impossible due to the financial burden that IVF carries. Each day, we grapple with the desire to keep trying, to not let go of our hope, despite the challenges we face. There is nothing more in this world that we want than to embrace the joy of parenthood and welcome a beautiful baby into our lives. This journey is one of love, resilience, and heartache. I share my story not just as a reflection of my own experiences, but as a testament to the hopes and dreams shared by so many others who walk this path. We remain hopeful that one day, our dream of becoming parents will come true. How we'll use the funds: The grant would help us to cover another set of donor eggs to hopefully be able to try again, with multiple good embryos for transfer if possible.
