I have always dreamed of becoming a mother, but my journey has felt like an uphill battle. In 2023, I required an emergency surgery to remove part of my colon that had perforated. Unfortunately, this led to infection of my left ovary and fallopian tube, subsequently leading to their removal. By having only one ovary and one remaining and damaged tube has diminished my odds of safely and effectively conceiving without assistance, and each step forward is laced with the fear of what might come next. The costs of IVF, even with insurance, add to the weight of this journey, making my dreams of starting a family feel more distant. It’s not just about the money; it’s about creating a secure home filled with love and laughter. As we all know, the cost of living is high. Jesse and I find it daunting to navigate the financial aspects of IVF. My insurance coverage for medications is limited, and the thought of facing out-of-pocket expenses is overwhelming. I want to provide my future children with a stable environment and the best possible start, but the financial strain makes it difficult to focus on anything but the numbers. This funding would help alleviate some of that pressure, allowing me to concentrate on what truly matters: growing my family. The decision to forego preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) due to its additional costs weighs heavily on me. I want to ensure that I have the healthiest embryo with the best chances of success, and being able to afford these services would mean the world to me. How we'll use the funds: My insurance is limited with medication coverages and with costs of living being so high, I don’t think we can afford the out of pocket after our insurance. We are hoping to use this money to offset our medication costs and cover as much costs related to ivf as possible. We are foregoing pgt because it’s an extra cost, however having only 1 remaining ovary and tube, it would be nice to pick the healthiest embryo with the best odds to be able to avoid needing to complete many cycles; we may be able to afford this service if the latter were covered.
