Becoming a parent is something I deeply desire, and starting a family with the person I love is one of the biggest dreams of my life. As a same-sex couple, our journey to parenthood comes with unique challenges, and my personal health journey has made that dream even more complicated. I have PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome), a condition that can affect fertility, and I have also had to undergo the heartbreaking experience of having one of my ovaries surgically removed. While these challenges have made me uncertain about what my journey to motherhood will look like, they have never taken away my desire to have a child of my own. I still hold on to the hope of one day welcoming a little one into our family and giving that child a home filled with love, security, encouragement, and endless support. I dream of experiencing the milestones that come with parenthood, from preparing for our baby’s arrival to watching our child grow and helping shape the person they become. We are seeking support to help make this dream possible. The costs associated with fertility evaluations, consultations, treatment, and other family-building options can be overwhelming, especially when there are already medical obstacles to navigate. Financial assistance would help ease some of that burden and bring us closer to understanding and pursuing the best path toward building our family. This is about more than financial assistance. It is about having the opportunity to pursue parenthood, despite the challenges that stand in our way. Every contribution, share, word of encouragement, and act of kindness would mean so much to us. We know that every family’s journey looks different, and ours may not be the easiest.
