My name is Shanta James, and I am 40 years old. I live in Charlottesville, VA, with my husband, John. For almost eight years, we have been trying to conceive, and throughout this journey, we have depleted our savings in the hope of starting our family. This struggle has been incredibly challenging, both emotionally and financially. At the age of 19, I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, and that experience has shaped my life in ways I never anticipated. Its devastating to know that this illness is the reason I have faced so many obstacles in achieving one of my biggest dreams; to experience pregnancy and become a mother. From the very beginning, I have held onto this dream with strong determination. Each negative result feels like a personal blow, shattering my hopes. Yet, despite the heartache, I cling to the belief that my time will come. I have read countless stories of women who faced years of struggles and finally achieved their dreams against all odds, and I hope to join those women in their success. As we navigate this journey, the financial burden has become overwhelming. While we have received some generous help, amounting to $1,200 toward our IVF process, we know that we need significantly more to continue. The prospect of pursuing egg stimulation, egg retrieval, a fresh transfer, ICSI and the necessary medications is daunting; and I find myself at a point where continuing this journey is no longer feasible without financial help. John and I have envisioned our family since we got married in September 2018 and began this IVF journey in December of that same year. The thought of finally receiving that phone call telling me I am pregnant is a moment I long for, one that fills my heart with hope. I yearn to create the nursery I have dreamed of for years and, ultimately, to hold a baby in my arms. Your help would not only enable me to pursue treatment but also reaffirm my belief that my dream of motherhood is still possible.
