My name is Melissa. I have always wanted to be a mother, but I have not been fortunate enough to get married or be in a serious relationship. At the age of 34, I decided to pursue IUI with donor sperm. After 2 unsuccessful attempts, 2 chemical pregnancies, and a 7 week miscarriage, I got pregnant with my son. After 2 years of trying, I gave birth to my healthy baby. All of the IUI attempts added up in cost. I ended up selling my house and moving in with my parents to be able to afford it. Now, I am about to turn 37. I love being a mother! I really want at least one more child before my age makes it more difficult and more dangerous. I have decided to go the IVF route this time because the success rate is higher and they can screen for the chromosomal abnormalities that may have caused my previous losses. However, because I am on a single income with a child, the cost of IVF and the medication is putting me in serious debt. My parents are not in a financial situation to be able to help me with the costs. I have a really good job, but I still need help. I am not comfortable asking for help, especially financially. But I always appreciate any help I get.
