Hi. My name is Katelyn, and my partner is Megan! I work at a non profit and my partner is a clinical mental health therapist! My journey to growing my family actually started before Megan and I were together. Last year, when I was trying to have another baby, I went through fertility testing and found out I have PCOS, which can make getting pregnant more difficult. Life has changed quite a bit since then, and my future looks different than I once imagined, but one thing that hasn't changed is how much I want to have another baby. I am already lucky enough to be a mom to my sweet boy, Pacey, who is truly one of the best parts of my life. He is from my previous marriage, and while I have already gotten to experience the joy of becoming a mom, Megan and I haven't gotten to experience that together yet. I would love nothing more than to give Pacey a little brother or sister, but I also really want the chance to have a baby with Megan. I want us to experience all of those little moments together, from finding out we're pregnant to hearing a heartbeat for the first time, and eventually bringing our baby home. Being a same-sex couple means that getting pregnant comes with expenses that we simply can't avoid. Between donor sperm, fertility appointments, and IUI treatments, the costs add up quickly. And with my PCOS diagnosis, there's also the possibility that it may take more than one try. We're doing our best to figure out how to make it all work financially, but it can feel overwhelming knowing how much we may have to spend just for the chance to get pregnant. This grant would mean so much to us. It would take away some of that financial stress and help us get closer to something we both want so badly. I already know how incredible it is to be a mom, and getting to experience that again, this time with Megan, would mean the world to me. We have so much love for the family we already have, and we're really hoping for the chance to make it a little bigger.
Our journey so far:
Our journey to growing our family has looked a little different than we originally imagined. Megan and I are hoping to have a baby together! While I have already experienced the joy of becoming a mom, this would be our first time getting to experience having a baby together. We are so excited about the possibility of growing our family and giving Pacey a little brother or sister. We know the journey might not be easy, but we're hopeful and ready to take the next step.
What this would mean to us:
Having a baby together is something Megan and I dream about all the time. I can't wait for the possibility of sharing all those little moments with her, from seeing a positive pregnancy test to hearing our baby's heartbeat for the first time and eventually bringing our baby home.
We already have so much love in our little family, and getting to grow it together would mean everything to us. Any support we receive would bring us one step closer to making that dream a reality. ❤️
What your support covers:
As a same-sex couple, getting pregnant comes with some extra steps and expenses. We're planning to use donor sperm and IUI (intrauterine insemination) to hopefully welcome a baby into our family.
Your support would go toward the cost of donor sperm, fertility appointments, medications if needed, and IUI procedures. With my PCOS diagnosis, we also know that it could take multiple attempts, which can make the costs add up pretty quickly.
Every little bit helps, and we're incredibly grateful for anyone who wants to be part of helping us grow our family. ❤️
