Their story

My wife and I are both teachers in Brooklyn, New York. Between us we've spent our careers nurturing, educating, and advocating for other people's children. It's the work we were made for. And for as long as we can remember, we've dreamed of bringing that same love home. Three years ago, we suffered a miscarriage. We tried and tried again, but with no success. A little over a year ago we started trying to build our family through IVF. What followed has been the hardest year of our lives. Three retrieval cycles. Countless injections, monitoring appointments, and phone calls that changed everything. One cycle that failed before it began. Two cycles that produced embryos we hoped and prayed for — only to find out through genetic testing that they weren't viable. Through all of it we kept going. Because that's what you do when you want something with everything you have. Today we have one precious embryo waiting for us. A perfectly graded, chromosomally normal embryo that represents everything this year has built toward. We're preparing for our frozen embryo transfer — the procedure that could finally make us parents. Our insurance has covered us through the retrieval cycles. But if this transfer doesn't work — and we pray with everything we have that it does — we will need to pursue further treatment out of pocket. Donor eggs. Additional retrieval cycles. Options that cost more than we have saved after a year of fighting this hard. We're asking for help staying in the fight long enough to bring a child home. A child who will grow up knowing they were wanted more than anything. Who will be raised by two people who have dedicated their lives to children and who cannot wait to finally have one of their own. If you've ever had a teacher who changed your life, this is your chance to help two of them change theirs. Thank you for reading our story. Thank you for being part of it.
