Two years ago, while Caleb and I were in a marriage class (Grace Marriage) given by our church each year, we were faced with answering the same questions individually and then talking about them together. One of those questions was, "where do you see your family in 5 years? 10 years?" Individually and without talking about this beforehand, we both wrote "adoption." As we met with each other and started going over the questions, particularly that one, it became clear to us that God had been working in both of our hearts to bring us to this moment. We were being called to adopt. We had no idea what this looked liked or what steps to take first. Thanks to some good friends of ours, the Walkers, we were able to get some insight into what to do and have some people praying for us as we navigated this new territory for our family. We are working with Children of the World for our domestic adoption and all five of us are looking forward to meeting the newest member of the Wilkes family, whenever God brings him or her to us.
