Sharing Photographs & Video: Community Guidelines

Our community is wonderfully diverse, and every fertility journey is unique. The photos you share tell a powerful story, and we encourage you to share them. At the same time, some people are more comfortable than others when it comes to personal joys and struggles, and everyone deserves to feel at ease here.

Before you add a photo to your fundraiser, or share photos and video with our community, please keep these guidelines in mind.

The guidelines

  1. Be respectful. Treat the people in your photos, and the people viewing them, with care.
  2. Respect copyright. In general, the photographer owns the photo. Share a photo only when you took it yourself or have the photographer's permission. This includes professional shots from weddings, maternity sessions, and newborn shoots.
  3. Get consent. Make sure everyone who appears in a photo is comfortable with it being shared.
  4. Protect children's privacy. Share a photo of a child only with the consent of that child's parent or guardian.
  5. Keep it appropriate. Your fertility journey is deeply connected to your physical body, and there is no shame in that. Even so, this is not the place for nudity, blood, or graphic images of medical procedures.
  6. Listen to your inner voice. If you find yourself questioning whether a photo belongs here, that hesitation is usually your answer.

If something crosses the line

We may remove photos that violate these guidelines. If you come across an image that concerns you, reach out through our contact page and we will take a look.
