Why images are important for your fundraiser success
Your fundraiser is more than words on a screen. It carries your story, your hopes, and everything this journey has asked of you. The right photo gives all of that a face, and a face is the first thing donors connect with.
There is a practical bonus, too: a fundraiser submitted with a photo usually goes live the moment you submit it. Without one, it waits for a quick review before publishing.
Choosing your cover photo
Your fundraiser has one featured photo, and it does a lot of work. It sits at the top of your page and shows up in every link preview when your fundraiser gets shared. A few tips for picking a strong one:
- Show real faces. A warm, clear photo of you, your partner, or the person you are fundraising for helps donors see exactly who they are supporting.
- Use natural light. Crisp, well lit, and authentic beats heavily filtered every time.
- Skip blurry or low-resolution shots. If it looks fuzzy on your phone, it will look fuzzy on your page.
- Keep faces in the frame. We automatically center the crop on the faces in your photo, so a picture with clearly visible faces will frame well everywhere, from wide banners to small thumbnails.
- Use a photo that is truly yours. Stock images and photos that belong to someone else are not allowed. Our photo and video community guidelines cover this in more detail.

Adding or changing your photo
- When you create your fundraiser, the photo upload is part of step 1, right alongside your story.
- Already live? Open your fundraiser from your dashboard and edit it to swap the photo any time.
- Photos can be JPEG, PNG, WebP, or GIF files up to 8 MB.
Keep your story moving
Donors love to see a journey unfold. As things progress:
- Swap in a fresh photo when a new chapter begins.
- Post updates from your dashboard so supporters stay close to your story.
- Keep sharing your fundraiser on social media. Fundraisers shared on social raise more, and every share puts your photo in front of new people.
